  • People Making a Difference (PMD) organizes one-time, hands-on volunteer projects for individuals, partners with businesses to promote effective community involvement, and trains and assists nonprofit leaders in quality volunteer management. Since PMD began in 1992, it has engaged and learned from more than 9,300 volunteers and 45 for-profit and public business partners. PMD has organized and executed more than 1,290 service projects, helping 143 recipient charities, of which 83% do not have staffing and other resources dedicated to working with volunteers year-round and so need assistance in order to involve volunteers effectively. PMD has built a reputation for providing high quality volunteer experiences that make a real difference to local charities. Individuals age 16 and older must sign up themselves to participate in specific PMD project on advertised dates and times listed with descriptions and any special requirements at http://www.pmd.org/events.phtml

Mission: People Making a Difference (PMD) seeks to create a world in which people and businesses are socially aware and engaged in their communities such that they approach volunteerism by learning about problems and needs, becoming familiar with local charities that are working to address them, volunteering reliably, and providing other needed resources to make a difference. Our vision is for everyone to be able to volunteer productively a few times a year so that together we make a real difference throughout the year while learning important things along the way.
